Vincent Villafranca's Bronze Robots

Vincent Villafranca's robot sculptures are especially interesting in both concept and execution. When I was looking for pieces to post about, I was expecting to find pieces that just had a bunch of not so interesting things super glued together to make a pretty cool robot. However, with Villafranca's robots, they're made exclusivley of of bronze and they all just look amazing.

They all have a certain post apocalypse type of style that the bronze just compliments so well.

Each one has it's own interesting personality. It's not only just a robot, but they feel like characters, and each have great attention to detail that makes it all the more fun to just look at for a while.

Robert Rauschenberg's Combines

Look at this thing
This is a great thing.

The instant I see that weird goat thing, I fell in love with it. This dude's use of color and complex placements of squares feels weird and fun at the same time. It's all very playful like a child's mind.

Max Ernst

Max Ernst is mostly known as a painter, but he does dabble in some sculpting and does a fine job with it, I must say.

I like these pieces because of the use of simple shapes that make interesting creature like things, and sort of lie in between the line of kind of creepy and kind of cute.

Ai Weiwei Amazingness

This is an exhibit Weiwei did with a bunch of stools called "Bang".
I enjoy it's absurd number of stools.

He also did a thing with these bikes.

Joseph Cornell box art

Looking through some of Joseph Cornell's, I have concluded that he really likes putting things in boxes.
He also has quite the fascination with birds. I like how he puts with flat images in 3D space along with small 3D objects. His pieces consist with a lot of washed out, paler tones as opposed to a ton a color.

I read that Joseph would have liked to travel, but never did and this piece in particular really shows that with the stamp, the birds, the coins and the cards.  I guess you could even say it was his 'dream' to travel. Ha.
